Company Overview
Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) is an oil and gas company. It is engaged in the exploration and production of oil and gas from hydrocarbon prospects, importation and marketing the petroleum products and distribution of the same in Tanzania. It operates in the Rufiji basin, inland rift basins of L. Rukwa, L. Tanganyika, L. Nyasa, and the Ruhuhu Karoo Basin. TPDC is wholly owned and controlled by Government of Tanzania. It has three subsidiaries which includes BP Tanzania Limited, TAZAMA Pipeline Limited and Mafuta House Investment Company Limited. It also participates in the Songo Songo Gas- to- Electricity projects, which develops natural gas from the Songo Songo gas field and Mnazi Bay gas development projects. TDPC had drilled 35 exploration and development wells. Two 35 million cubic feet per day processing units have been built on Songo Songo island to process the natural gas from the wells. After processing, the gas is transported through a 12-inch pipeline from Songosongo to Somanga Funga, and from Somanga Funga through a 16-inch pipeline to Ubungo Dar es Salaam. The company was established in the year 1969. Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation is headquartered at United Republic of Tanzania.
